A. Eligibility
- Project must be led by at least two tenure-track and/or tenured faculty PIs at Texas State University. They must be from at least two different colleges.
- Research must clearly align with one of the five research priorities named above.
- Project leads (PIs) may not be part of more than two proposals under consideration at one time.
- Project leads may not be part of more than one funded proposal at a time.
B. Award Information
- Duration: 6, 9, or 12 months
- Budget: to be determined based on final project scope and intended outcomes. Exclusions: funding will not cover PI salaries or the salaries of researchers outside of Texas State.
- Outcomes and deliverables: Within twelve months after the project has ended, recipients must submit:
- A one-page report detailing the project’s outcomes and contributions to Texas State’s strategic research priorities
- Confirmation of a proposal for funding submitted to a federal sponsor
C. Application and Review Process
- Applicants must submit a two-page (maximum) letter of interest that includes
- Name, department, and college of each PI
- Strategic research priority
- Project overview: goal, objectives, and key activities. This should be written for a well-educated, non-technical reader. Please, do not include formulas, graphics, or references.
- Project impact: explanation of how the research, once completed, will contribute to growth in Texas State’s strategic research areas and have a research impact beyond Texas State University.
- Possible federal or private sponsors that would support this work once the seed project has been completed. Include specific programs or funding mechanisms.
- Very brief timeline for work
- Anticipated total funding needed
- Send your proposal as a PDF attachment to Research Development (researchdev@txstate.edu). In the subject line indicate the lead PI’s last name and the research priority area, for example: Blanda: Water or Mandayam: aging and dementia.
- Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The Division of Research will review submissions and invite further information from competitive applications. Applicants will hear back within 30 days of submission.
